Growing up so fast!

Elliot is 18 months old today. Where has the time gone? Guy took him to Nursery for the first time on Sunday and he loved it. Guy gave me the pictures that he "colored" during the lesson and I'm not quite sure what to do with them. He made one tiny little crayon mark on one picture and that was it. I think that Guy is just as excited to have Elliot go to Nursery so that he can actually sit through Sunday School and Elder's Quorum again without chasing a 1 year old.



Elliot loves to climb everything in sight. Whenever we are near playground equipment, he wastes no time in getting to the top and then sliding down, over and over again. He loves to be outside and he cries whenever it is time to come inside again.

Memorial Day

Memorial Day is almost like the official start of summer. The weather was perfect this year and so we spent most of the day outside. We started off by meeting Tamara and Brian in Ogden to put out flowers in the cemetery. Amelia enjoyed watering all the flowers that she could while Ashley and Elliot climbed on head stones. We thought it was really funny that there was a leftover carton of strawberries on this head stone.


After the cemetery, we headed down the street to Farr's for ice cream. Amelia got "rainbow" which is really called Playdoh, Ashley had S'mores, Elliot got the have a taste from everyone, Guy had Moose Tracks and I had my favorite, Licorice. Yum!


Then we were on our way to my mom's for a BBQ. We had a little bit of time to kill before it was time to eat so Tamara and Brian set up a net in the backyard so we could play some volleyball and badminton. They volleyball was a little bit flat so it really hurt to hit it, but we still had so much fun. Now that we had worked up an appetite, it was time to eat. Hot dogs and hamburgers with the best buns from Reams, potato salad, strawberry Jell-O salad, chips and drinks. After dinner, we were back on the court to play. Now our problem was that Ashley had taken all the birdies and wouldn't give any of them up. Luckily, Brian was able to sneak one of them away from her so that we could play. We had such a great time laughing at the sweet skills that we all had.

Preschool Programs

A week ago, Amelia and Ashley had their last days of preschool and their programs. Ashley didn't want to participate in hers and she just wanted to hold my hand the whole time. So, I didn't get any pictures of her during her program. She did get a balloon at the end and some treats so that made her happy. Elliot kept busy by pushing chairs around the entire room. It's a good thing I had Smarties in my purse to help him to sit still during the programs.


Amelia's program was next and ended with a little graduation ceremony. My favorite part of her program was when her class sung "The Hokey Pokey". Amelia was "in" when she should have been "out", it was so cute to watch. She kept looking over at me and telling me to take a picture. I'm glad that she was so concerned about that.

Timber!

We have lived in this house for 4 years now and for many of those years, I have wanted to eliminate the large pine and spruce trees that took up so much of the yard. A couple of years ago, I got a quote of how much it would cost to rid the yard of the trees. After picking my jaw up off the floor, I abandoned the idea. Fast forward a few years, we found out that we had a neighbor with a back hoe and a large chain saw that could do the job for a small fraction of the cost. Hot dog! I was so excited. The day finally came and it was time to see the trees go. We figured that the trees were more than 30 years old and some were planted so close to the house that it made it challenging to chop them down without them landing on the house. The pine in the back caused the most stress since in was leaning towards our bedroom. I'm kind of glad I wasn't home when that one came down. So, over the course of two days, three trees came down and the look of our yard has been forever changed. Now I just need to figure out where I want to plant trees so we can have some shade again.
