April Fun

My sister (who is probably the only one who actually checks my blog) tells me that it has been a while (a long while) since I updated my blog.  I blame the computer.  I don't even have my own profile right now.  And then of course there is summer.  School starts in just one week and I feel like I haven't done half the things that I wanted to with the kids.  But right now I am catching up on laundry, getting ready for a camping trip.  So, between taking care of all the clean clothes coming out of the dryer and making sure the washer spins, I will tell you all about April.  Or at least what I can remember based on the pictures I took.

Amelia participated in the Greek Olympics at school.  I took the boys and we enjoyed an afternoon watching her compete in the discus throw, javelin, long jump, and high jump.  The kids all had a blast.  The last event was a relay race that the kids were all a bit confused about.  When they heard "GO", instead of just the first person starting to race, all of the kids started racing around the track.  It took a while to get all the kids in place again and start over, but so much fun.  We ended to day with snacks back in the classroom.

The day finally came and we thought that it was warm enough to plant our grass.  We have spent lots of time preparing the ground and we were very anxious to start seeing the grass growing in.  Well, right after we spread the seed, fertilizer, and peat moss to hold it down, a big wind storm came through and blew away most of our hard work.  We then spent weeks watering our dirt hoping for something to sprout and we mostly got weeds.  Apparently it wasn't quite warm enough for the grass seed sprout.  The lawn is finally coming in now (I'll have to get a picture sometime) and as long as you stand back, it looks really nice.  I'm loving the look of the front yard with so much grass and room to run!

Amelia and Ashley participated in the Gotta Dance festival (actually the same day that we tried to plant grass) with Turning Point Dance.  They have been practicing so hard on their dance and it was so fun to see it all come together.  Grandma Corinne and Auntie Tamara came to see them dance which was so nice.  I took the girls over early and then Guy came with the boys just in time to see the girls dance.  We stayed until the very end of the competition to see a lot more dances and hear all the awards at the end.  I think that the girls took 2nd place in their division for their Splish Splash dance.

Tamara watched to boys for me one day so that I could go to a baby/bridal shower. (Don't worry, it was two different people.  No shotgun wedding here.)  When I went to pick up the boys, the girls were so sad that they had missed out on all the fun and cool toys while at the shower.  So Tamara sent us home with her collection of Playmobils. Ashley has loved setting up scenes and playing to her little hearts content.  The other kids have loved playing too but not as much as Ashley.  For months now, I have been collecting little Playmobil pieces from all over the house so that we can return everything.  Hopefully I don't forget anything.
