Spring Break

Spring break for the kids was right after Easter.  Amelia had mentioned that she wanted to learn how to make balloon animals so we went to the library and found a few books on the subject.  After that, we headed to the party supply store for some balloons and a pump.  While reading the instructions, Amelia got a little confused so I ended up being the one learning how to make balloon animals.  It was actually a lot more fun than I thought it would be.

I convinced Guy to take a day off of work and head to the zoo with us.  On the way there, I got a speeding ticket while driving along Foothill Dr.  The officer was really nice and wrote me up for a lesser violation of not having a front license plate (thanks Dad).  I thought the whole situation was hilarious, especially with the whole family in the car.  At least everyone was wearing a seat belt.

Once we got to the zoo, we realized that just about everyone else in Utah had the same idea.  Both parking lots were packed and we ended up parking on the street.  It was so crowded inside.  It was so hard to get a good look at the animals, especially at the new exhibits.  By the end of our visit, the kids were exhausted and barely had enough energy to walk back to the car.

We wrapped up the week of Spring Break with a trip to the Cabin.  It was also Conference weekend so we spent a lot of time watching TV.  It was great to send the kids outside to play though when they needed to get their wiggles out.  My mom taught me how to make cinnamon rolls (oh so yummy) and it might just become a Cabin tradition to make them.  We made them the night before, so for breakfast the next day, things were so easy.

A weekend at the Cabin is exhausting.

Easter Day

Our Easter morning started off with finding the Easter baskets.  Elliot and Micah's were hidden in the living room and the girls' were downstairs in the playroom/family room.

Ashley was not so happy because she found Amelia's basket and then Amelia found hers.  She has since told me that this was the worst Easter ever.

We had my family over for Easter dinner after church.  Yummy ham, funeral potatoes, rolls, Jell-o salad, fruit with dip, veggies and dip, deviled eggs, and asparagus.  Grandma gave the kids ring pops and I banished Micah to his chair to eat his.  He loved it and made such a mess!

Easter Fun

Our annual Easter egg hunt was the week before Easter and grandma and grandpa's house.  We got 6" of snow in Springville that morning and I was worried that the roads would be terrible.  But everywhere else got an inch or so of snow so we were fine.  Since it was cold outside though, all but the hunt was inside.  We split the kids into two groups so there wouldn't be too many trying to fit around the egg dying table at once.

Ready to dye all those eggs.

Micah loved putting eggs in the dye and pulling them back out.  His hand was a nice shade of green by the end of the day.

Amelia was with the older group of kids and got to decorate her bag while the others were dying.

I may have let Micah eat a cupcake for lunch.

Helping my boys decorate their bags.

Lunch was all by cleaned up and Micah found the butter and decorated it with forks.

Josh, Cash and Elliot.  Those three loved being together!

Easter Wreath

I've been getting a little crafty lately and decided to make this super fun Easter wreath.  Pretty much, I just wrapped a styrofoam wreath with ribbon and then glued mini Easter eggs all the way around.  I love how bright and colorful it turned out.

Micah gets a haircut

Micah's hair was getting a little long and crazy so I gave him a quick cut after I took Elliot to preschool.  He was so good.  He just sat on his stool and enjoyed his sucker while I went to work.
