Odd Markings

Last night at dinner, Guy and I noticed that it looked like Amelia had chocolate all over her face. That was possible since she had probably eaten some Easter candy at some point during the day. When I started to look a little closer, it looked more like a hickey. I asked her if she had put a cup over her mouth and then sucked all the air out so the cup would be stuck over her mouth. She couldn't remember if she had done anything like that. But that is what the shape of this "bruise" looks like to me.

Not Quite Right

The girls are sleeping in the guest room in the basement right now while the carpet is being replaced. Last night, Amelia got up to go potty and then I helped tuck her back in. As I walked around the corner of the bed, I noticed that the carpet was wet. Odd. But too tired to do anything about it so I went back to bed. As I was falling asleep, I realized that the kitchen is right above that room, more precisely, the sink is directly above the wet spot on the carpet. This morning I started pulling everything out from the cabinet and checking all the water lines to make sure that none of them were leaking. We have had that happen before, so that is what I was expecting. They were all dry so I had to start thinking of other ways water could be leaking under the sink. That's when I saw this...

Apparently, the drain pipe became disconnected from the sink recently. So all the water that went down the sink made it's way to the bedroom downstairs. At least I have an excuse not to do the dishes.

New Carpet

I've wanted new carpet in this house since we moved in 4 years ago. Well, it has begun! This morning, we got new carpet in the living room and the girls room. Hopefully, in about 2 weeks, we will finish the upstairs. I told Guy that I was so excited about the carpet that I rolled around on it this morning. He laughed at me and then did a "carpet angel". Maybe he is excited about it too.

No more carpet in the girls' room.

Elliot was covered in chalk dust from the living room.

Living room all done. I just love it!

The girls' room. So soft and cozy.

Easter

Easter was split over two weekends for us this year. We started with an Easter egg hunt at my mom's house on March 27th. The weather was great and it was a ton of fun. Amelia dyed a couple of eggs and then decided that it would be much more fun to run around with all the other kids. Ashley didn't want anything to do with the eggs so she played magnets inside. Sometimes she just needs to be by herself and join the group at her own pace. After lunch, we had the egg hunt. I helped Ashley and Elliot find a few and they were happy with what they got. Amelia was sad that none of her eggs had numbers in them to claim prizes but she still got a prize because there were some that didn't get claimed. Ashley did finally dye some eggs. Or, should I say that she dyed one egg. By the time she decided that she wanted to dye eggs, there weren't any un-dyed eggs left. So, I found eggs with very little color for her to dye. She latched on the one particular egg and wanted to put it in each color dye. She was so proud of her egg.

Easter Sunday was a little bit off this year. I had scheduled to have the carpet replaced this morning in the living room and the girls' room so our weekend was spent moving furniture, pulling up carpet, pad and staples and then reinforcing the floor to try and stop the squeaks. Since it was also Conference weekend, we had an excuse to stay home. We got most of the work done on Friday and Saturday, but still had to fix the squeaks on Sunday. After breakfast, we all got to work in the living room, during the morning session of Conference. Needless to say, we didn't hear much of it since the drills were going constantly and the girls loved hearing the echo in there. Normally, Sunday's are filled with meetings and a much needed day of rest. Yesterday was a lot different. I also had invited my family over for Easter dinner. I started this little tradition back when we lived in Nibley and it has been so fun every year. After dinner, we watched some old home movies from way back in 1982 followed by some yummy dessert. It was so fun to have everyone over, but once they left, Guy and I had to get back to work. The girls have been sleeping in the basement and loving it. Amelia says that she wants to sleep down there for a few more nights. And that might just happen now that I am thinking about painting their room since all the furniture is out. I also have to start planning for the next two rooms of carpet to be replaced. Elliot must have had too much candy yesterday because he didn't go to sleep until almost midnight. But at least he slept until 10:00 this morning. Hopefully it doesn't throw off his schedule too much.
