Flashback to Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was full of fun times, traditions, and great food. The night before Thanksgiving, I headed up to my sister's house to make pies. That is one of my favorite traditions. Tamara is always giving me a hard time because I don't know how to make a cream pie but maybe one day I will learn. The last time I tried to make one (in college) it resembled banana cream soup more than pie. I'm not sure of exactly how many pies we made this year, but it was around 50. Amelia wanted to get in on all the baking action too and so she made up her own recipe for Apple Bacon Pie. We couldn't disappoint her and so we made a small Apple Pie and topped it with cinnamon sugar and told her that it was her Apple Bacon Pie. She was so excited. The best part was when she gave it to her cousin Josh the next night. I think he was just as excited to get his very own pie!


Thanksgiving day was wonderful! We had dinner at my Aunt Linda's house which was delicious as always. We started out with appetizers and then moved to the main course. I wish that I would have gotten a picture of the fabulous food. My favorite part of Thanksgiving dinner is all the leftovers. We make sure that there is enough food so that everyone can take home plenty of leftovers. My mom makes a dozen rolls for each household and Linda even cooks an extra turkey. Yum! It probably took us an hour to divide up all the leftover food.


After dinner we headed to my Aunt VaLene and Uncle Kevin's house for pie. We started this little tradition so that no matter where each family had dinner, we could all get together for pie afterward. It makes for a lot of people but it is worth it since there are that many more varieties of pie. And of course, more leftovers. I bet that I took home almost a full pie worth of different slices of pie. Besides all the great food, it was great to see almost all of my cousins, aunt, uncles, and beyond!

I'm excited about sheet-rock!

This past weekend, Guy did something to our little bathroom project. I get so excited about the little things in life and now I am excited about sheet-rock! Our bathroom is actually starting to become enclosed. It is almost weird to see it like that. Hopefully soon we can get an electrician to come out and ok all the wiring. After we get the electrician's blessing, we can put insulation in and then more sheet-rock in the bathroom.


Guy also decided to post a classified ad to sell the old vanity, sink and medicine cabinet. I was not optimistic that we would get any bites on it but I was wrong. The ad was up for less than an hour and we got two calls on it and everything was out of the house an hour after that. Amazing! I love on-line classifieds!

Where have you been?

Yes, I know. It has been more than 2 months since I have blogged. I admire everyone out there that can keep up with a blog and kids and everything else that comes along. Apparently, I am not one of those people. Every time I think I have a minute to myself, something or someone beckons me. But right now, I think I have a minute so here is a little bit of what we have been doing. More updates will hopefully follow soon!

Elliot turned one on December 29th...We finally celebrated on January 1st...I finally turned his car seat around on January 19th. I didn't have a reason to do it before then, so I just kept him rear facing. Besides, naps in the car are a lot easier when you are already reclined. Well, the Durango had to go to the dealership yesterday for a little repair so I had to put all the car seats in the Neon. It is a really tight squeeze, but Amelia said that it was fun and she wanted to keep it like that forever. I forgot to move the car seats back to the Durango last night, so it will be at least one more day squished in the Neon. It really makes me appreciate the extra room in the behemoth SUV.
