Feeding the Ducks

Normally I would say that Christmas break is not a great time to go and feed the ducks.  However, the weather was warm (or at least sunny) and I certainly didn't need anyone to twist my arm to break in my new camera.  So we grabbed some bread and off we went.

This is Beakless.  The kids named her that for obvious reasons.  We were sure to give her plenty of chances to eat.

The kids named this goose Dinosaur.

I just like this one.  I finally got a shot without any other ducks in the background.

Christmas 2013

Christmas time is one of my favorite times of the year.  One of these days, I will figure out how to make it less stressful and truly enjoy the holiday.  Here are some of our happenings.

Gingerbread houses have become a favorite activity for the kids.  I pretty much just love buying all the candy for them.  I used to be able be able to get away with one or two houses, but now they all want their own.  The girls got to do houses and the boys got to do trains this year.  Micah had a fairly short attention span, but all the others loved it.  Once Micah lost interest, I kept adding candy until there were no bare spots.

For Christmas, I got myself a new fancy, shmancy camera.  I've been wanting one for at least a year but just couldn't decide on what I wanted.  I talked to a friend of mine about her camera and finally decided to get a Nikon D7100.  Taking pictures is so much more fun when you've got the right equipment.  So, enjoy a few pictures from Christmas that speak for themselves.

Welcome Baby Charlie

The day finally came at the beginning of December 2013 for little baby Charlie to be born.  I did what any good Auntie would do and sat by my phone waiting for the news.

The day after she was born, I was able to visit Tamara and Charlie in the hospital.  With the girls in school, I dropped off the boys at a friends house and hustled up north.  It was really nice to be on the visiting side of things, especially since I knew it would be my time to have a baby in 3 1/2 months.

Little Charlie was spending some time in the NICU so I had a great chance to visit with Tamara.  Of course, it wasn't nearly long enough but I had to make it home before the girls got off the bus.
