A litte crack at sewing

My good friend Lara came over one day to use my surger to surge the seams on a nightgown that she had made for her daughter. She told me just how easy it was so I thought I would take a shot at it. I went to the fabric store to try and find a pattern that I liked, and nothing really jumped out at me. A nice lady (from Genola) was sitting across the table from me and we struck up a little conversation. I told her what kind of nightgown I was looking for and she said that she had a ton of patterns at home and was sure that one of them would fit my description. So I gave her my name, address and phone number and she said that she would mail me a pattern. I would then trace the pattern pieces and mail it back to her. How nice is that? A little surprise came a few days later when there was a knock at my door and there was the lady from the fabric store. She had traced all the pattern pieces (2 sizes for both my girls) and copied all the instructions for me and delivered them to my house. I just love the kindness of strangers.

Well, I finally got around to sewing these nightgowns. I had a free Saturday so I headed to my Mom's house for a little sewing lesson. We had a ton of interruptions from the little ones so it took us forever to sew just one nightgown. Ashley was so excited to wear it and I think that she would have worn it all the next day if we didn't have to get dressed for church. The following week, I worked on sewing Amelia's nightgown during Elliot's naps. It took a couple of days but I got it done. The girls love wearing their nightgowns. Now I want to work on making summer nightgowns for them.
